Professional Summary
I am a sociologist who does interdisciplinary academic, and policy research and teaching around issues of urbanisation, city economies, informality, labour, and digital platforms.
I am interested in what futures technology will create in cities of the global South. My research is focused on labour platforms like Uber, Ola, UrbanClap, Housejoy, Swiggy, Zomato and Dunzo embed, alter and shift city economies, existing labour markets and the experience of work. I look at how the platform as a mode of economic organisation impacts various scales and experiences of informality, a hallmark of cities of the global South.
I teach courses on digital platforms, informality, and urbanisation.
